Weston Islamic Education Centre (WIEC) is a community-led organisation established to serve the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the local Muslim community, while also welcoming and engaging with the wider public.
We aim to promote a balanced and authentic understanding of Islam that encourages good character, mutual respect, and positive contribution to society. Our doors are open to anyone wishing to learn about our work, our faith, or how we support the local community.

Our Head Imam
Imam Tanweer memorised the Qur’an by the age of 13 before completing six years of traditional Islamic scholarship at Madinat al-ʿUlūm al-Islāmiyya in Kidderminster, where he received ijaza (authorisation) in multiple Islamic sciences.
He then pursued a one-year specialisation in Islamic jurisprudence at Jāmiʿat al-ʿIlm wa’l-Hudā in Blackburn, training under senior UK-based muftīs within a Dār al-Iftā’.
He is currently in the final year of his Master’s degree in Islamic Studies at the University of Birmingham, while serving as Head Imam and leading the Muslim community of Weston-super-Mare.
