Who We Are

The Weston Islamic Education Centre (WIEC) is a welcoming hub for Muslims and the wider community in Weston and surrounding areas. Rooted in the values of Islam—peace, compassion, and knowledge—we strive to nurture hearts, inspire minds, and strengthen our shared spiritual journey.

Our Mission

To educate, empower, and uplift our community through Islamic teachings, inclusive programs, and community support. We aim to provide a safe, vibrant space where people of all ages and backgrounds can learn, grow, and connect.

Our Head Imam

Imam Tanweer memorised the Qur’an by the age of 13 before completing six years of traditional Islamic scholarship at Madinat al-ʿUlūm al-Islāmiyya in Kidderminster, where he received ijaza (authorisation) in multiple Islamic sciences.

He then pursued a one-year specialisation in Islamic jurisprudence at Jāmiʿat al-ʿIlm wa’l-Hudā in Blackburn, training under senior UK-based muftīs within a Dār al-Iftā’.

He is currently in the final year of his Master’s degree in Islamic Studies at the University of Birmingham, while serving as Head Imam and leading the Muslim community of Weston-super-Mare.
